Mr. Amy attended public school in Carthage, Texas.  He participated in the CHS Band, Student Council, and Yearbook.  He was an All-District performer in football, basketball, and track.  He was named Mr. CHS his senior year 1985; yet he maintained high academic standards graduating in the top quarter of his class.

 After high school, Mr. Amy attended Austin College where he played four years of football earning All-American three straight years.  He is still the school record holder in receptions, reception yards, and touchdown receptions.  He also played one year of basketball and ran track four years, participating in two National Track meets.  He was named to the Dean’s list at Austin College.  He graduated with a B.A. in 1989, and a M.A. in 1990 in Secondary Education.  Otis received a second M.A. degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in Educational Leadership.  He is currently enrolled at East Texas Theological Seminary in Tyler, Texas.  He has completed twenty-five years in public education and has served three years in the United Stated Army as a Behavioral Science Specialist.

Mr. Amy has served as principal of both Henderson and Carthage High School. He was named Man of the Year in Rusk County 2010, and in 2014, he was named Man of the Year by 100 Men of East Texas.  His community service includes membership in Kiwanis (board member), and the Courtesy Club in Carthage, Texas.  He is married to Mrs. Vicky (Pilot) Amy.  Collectively, they share five children and two grandchildren.

Mr. Amy currently serves as principal of his beloved Carthage High School.
