CHS AG Structures, Design & Fabrication Students Experience Real-World Learning, Industry Exposure, and Community Service

Students in Ms. Jolene Reeves’ AG Structures, Design & Fabrication classes at Carthage High School recently participated in a series of hands-on learning experiences that combined industry education, community partnership, and service to others—showcasing the strength and impact of CHS Career & Technical Education.

Special Cookout Provided by the Barnett Family

Carthage ISD extends heartfelt thanks to Poncho Barnett, father of CHS student Jace Barnett, for generously bringing his cooking pit to campus and preparing a full meal for Ms. Jolene’s classes. Students enjoyed brisket, pulled pork, ā€œcardiac arrest potatoes,ā€ jalapeƱo poppers, homemade macaroni and cheese, and all the accompanying sides.

In addition to providing lunch, Mr. Barnett also donated a Lincoln welding hood, which was raffled off among students. The winner of the drawing was Brayan Surui Ixpec. CHS is grateful for Mr. Barnett’s support and the meaningful way he contributed to the hands-on learning environment.

Priefert Manufacturing Facility Tour

On Wednesday, November 13, students in the AG Equipment Design & Fabrication program traveled to Mount Pleasant for an industry tour of the Priefert Metal Manufacturing facility—one of the nation’s leading producers of ranch, rodeo, and agricultural equipment.

During the tour, students observed the welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly processes used to create Priefert’s signature equipment lines. They were able to see, firsthand, the very skills they have been practicing in class applied in a professional, high-tech production environment.

One of the highlights of the visit included watching a fully automated robotic team fabricate a farm panel—an impressive example of the advanced technology shaping today’s manufacturing industry. Several students captured photos and videos during the tour, helping document this valuable learning opportunity.

Angel Tree Community Service Project

Continuing their commitment to service, students in AG Structures, Design & Fabrication recently shopped for four children from the community Angel Tree. This project allowed students to work together to provide holiday gifts for local families in need, demonstrating the generosity and leadership that define Carthage High School’s CTE programs.

Appreciation for Community Partners

The program also extends gratitude to Coach Foster and The Dawg Store for donating CHS apparel, including a hoodie and T-shirts, to support class activities and student participation.

From industry exposure to community service and hands-on skill development, Ms. Jolene Reeves’ students continue to exemplify what makes CHS CTE exceptional. Carthage High School is proud of their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to representing Bulldog Nation with excellence.
