🌟 Instructional Practices & Practicum Student Spotlight 🌟 Featuring: Cheyenne Holt Mentor Teacher: Kristy Cawthon, 5th Grade, Baker-Koonce Intermediate This week we are proud to spotlight Cheyenne Holt, a practicum student who is already demonstrating the heart, initiative, and passion of a future educator! ā¤ļø What Makes Cheyenne Stand Out? Cheyenne has a natural ability to connect with students. She takes time to build real relationships, pays attention to every child—even the quiet ones—and helps them feel seen, supported, and loved. Her mentor shares that the kids adore her, and the feeling is clearly mutual. šŸš€ Growth in the Classroom Since beginning her practicum, Cheyenne has stepped up in meaningful ways. She’s learned classroom procedures, anticipates what students will need, prepares supplies in advance, and helps new arrivals transition smoothly into activities—all without disrupting instruction. Her awareness and initiative shine every day. šŸ’Ŗ Strengths & Teaching Qualities Cheyenne’s greatest strengths are her genuine heart and her determined desire to do her very best. She brings kindness, patience, and a positive spirit to every moment she spends in the classroom. ✨ A Favorite Memory One afternoon during dismissal, Cheyenne was outside with students when it was time for her to go. Instead of heading out quickly, she ran the entire perimeter of the playground just to make sure she told every single student goodbye individually. It’s moments like this that show the kind of caring educator she is becoming. 🌱 Words of Advice from Her Mentor Keep loving kids and continue focusing on building relationships—you have a gift for that. You may not be able to fix every problem you see, but you can always keep loving them. That means the most. šŸ’¬ One Word to Describe Cheyenne: Genuine Help us celebrate Cheyenne and the incredible future she has ahead in education! #WeAreCHS #BetterAsABulldog #FutureEducator #CTEspotlight

✨ Carthage High School NHS: Serving With Heart! ✨

Last week, our National Honor Society members—led with incredible dedication by NHS Sponsor Mr. Phillip Parker—spent the afternoon spreading joy at Winkler Assisted Living.

Students brought an amazing collection of gifts for residents, including non-slip socks, electric lap blankets, coloring books, crosswords, crayons, and more. These items became prizes during a spirited afternoon of bingo, where laughter, conversation, and connection filled the room.

But the giving didn’t stop there.
Our NHS students also hand-crafted more than 100 Thanksgiving cards, each one made with care and kindness, to brighten the holiday season for every resident. šŸ§”šŸ‚

This visit wasn’t just an activity—it was a powerful reminder of what makes Carthage special: students who lead with compassion, a community that values service, and a sponsor who models what it means to make a difference. Thank you, Mr. Parker, for your leadership and heart. ā¤ļø

And thank you to Winkler Assisted Living for welcoming our Bulldogs and allowing them to serve with purpose and pride!

🌟 Instructional Practices & Practicum Student Spotlight 🌟 Today we are proud to highlight Hope Williamson, a dedicated junior at Carthage High School completing her practicum at Carthage Primary under the mentorship of Mrs. Kim Smith. šŸŽ A Future Educator in the Making Mrs. Smith describes Hope as encouraging, patient, kind, and loving. When students struggle, Hope never lets them give up—she encourages them to keep trying until they succeed. Her calm and caring presence is already making a big impact in the classroom. šŸ“˜ Growth & Leadership At the beginning of the year, Hope was shy and needed direction. Now, she comes in each day ready to work and immediately gets herself involved with students. She assists with seatwork, practices sight words with struggling learners, helps in centers, and builds strong, positive relationships. Mrs. Smith shared that she is ā€œsuch a BIG help to me!ā€ ā¤ļø Teaching Strengths Hope’s strengths—her patience, encouragement, compassion, and willingness to do anything for a child—make her stand out as a future educator with tremendous potential. 🌈 A Favorite Memory Mrs. Smith recalls a moment when Hope arrived in the middle of a human body lesson. Without hesitation, she sat right down with the students and began participating. Her mentor described the moment as ā€œso sweet.ā€ šŸ’¬ Advice from Her Mentor ā€œKeep working and keep pushing! Education is a very rewarding career with ups and downs each day. It takes someone with a BIG heart, and you have that.ā€ ✨ Mentor’s Favorite Quote for Hope ā€œThe future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.ā€ —Eleanor Roosevelt Join us in celebrating Hope Williamson for her dedication, growth, and passion for students.
