Garage Sale

This past weekend, the National Honor Society of Carthage High School hosted a successful garage sale.

“NHS members were able to raise $1227.25 between items purchased at the garage sale and donated funds,” NHS sponsor, Mrs. Jackson shared. “Ultimately, the funds are going to be utilized for the community or nation, as one of our NHS partnerships is with Global Change and Feed America.”

NHS students planned and executed the event under the direction of student officers. This year’s officers are Co-Presidents Caroline Stacy and Mehek Ladiwala, Vice President Luke Horton, Treasurer Jennifer Rodriguez, Secretary Kiley-Jo Jolley, Historian Rubi Flores, Parliamentarian Taylor Cureton, Social Officers Lydia Foley and Sadie Smith, and Leadership Officers Bea Canales and Faith Kruebbe.

“In order to fully accomplish our goal on the day of the sale, we spent a lot of time asking questions, taking advice and getting as organized as possible,” Co-President Caroline Stacy noted. “Our officer team was a huge help and all our members showed up and showed out for meetings. They showed up at 5:00 am on the morning of the event and stayed until 9:00 pm on our pre-planning nights. We also had many members and their families sacrifice tools, vehicles, trailers, as well as their time.”

NHS will continue working throughout the year to provide service opportunities for their members.

“NHS and Key Club plan on joining together for many projects as both organizations are centered around service and character,” Mrs. Jackson emphasized. “We feel that together with more people involved, the more we can positively impact others, the more we can make a difference and help teach others that compassion, integrity, and service are important and necessary in forging a community and nation together.”
